"What's Rattlin'?" was created in May 1996 as an extension of the Calyx website.

The name come of course from the song on Richard Sinclair's 1994 album "R.S.V.P.". The lyrics (by Pip Pyle), provide a humorous look at the Canterbury mythology, and ended with the following lines:

One question we all dread,
"What's doing Mike Ratledge ?"
I'm tired of questions like
"What is he doing, Mike ?"
"What's doing Robert Wyatt ?"
"What's doing Kevin Ayers ?"
"What's Rattling Mike Doodlage ?"

So "What's Rattlin'?" answers these questions, and many more.

WR started as a weekly newsletter service compiling upcoming gig/release info, concert reviews, and fan discussion on all things Canterbury. It ground to a halt in 2004, and has now been relaunched as a discussion group, also available as a daily e-mail digest.
